Pondering over Koirala’s death and Barsha Man’s passion for politics

Let me start this article with two questions: In contemporary international politics, who do you see as an ideal leader? And what characteristics should the 21st century’s ideal leader have? The answers may vary from people to people. But if you ask these questions to a sizeable number of people, you will get a pattern in their answers, enabling you to draw conclusion accordingly.

Last year, the Pew Research Center conducted a research asking 1,835 people in different US cities what characteristics a good leader must have. Eighty per cent of the respondents said honesty is the one quality that a good leader must have, 80 per cent said intellect. Of the respondents, 67 per cent said a good leader should be collaborative, 57 per cent said such a leader should be compassionate, 56 per cent said s/he should be innovative and 53 per cent said the leader should be ambitious.
